I've been competing in agility since 1996. My first agility dog was Dancer, a blue merle Australian Shepherd. She was only able to compete for 2 seasons, but was the kind of dog that worked hard to overcome the inadequacies of her handler.

My second agility dog, Rusty, another Aussie, was not so accommodating and I had to work a lot harder to be a good teammate, but he has become Mr. Reliable. He's not the fastest dog, but he's steady and consistent, and I'm happy to say that at 81/2 years old, he's running better (and happier) than ever. His titles include a NATCH, O-NATCH, and V-NATCH; ATCH; MAD, Gamble Master, Standard Master, Jumpers Master, Relay Master, Tournament Master, Standard Champion, and Jumpers Champion (Bronze); plus NA and NAJ. He was the 6th place Veteran dog in the ASCA Agility finals in 2004.

My "baby dog" is Ren, a 31/2 year old Border Collie, already has her NATCH, and is close to her ATCH and her O-NATCH. She has caught up to Rusty in USDAA: she has her MAD, GM, SM, JM, and RM and multiple qualifiers in Grand Prix and Steeplechase. At USDAA Nationals she was clean in Grand Prix quarterfinals and semifinals and in Steeplechase semifinals. Both dogs just need one SuperQ to finish their ADCH. She is competing in Excellent A in both Standard and JWW in AKC.

When I'm not trialing or training, or serving as RAT Treasurer and PortaPotty Queen, I am a small animal veterinarian in Seattle, treating dogs and cats. I work hard to try to convince my clients to keep their dogs lean and fit and to get involved in dog activities, including agility.(04.10.05)
