How to Join RAT
Expectations of members:
 |
RAT is a working club! Our ability to put on trials, seminars and practices, depends entirely on the active participation of all of our members. |
Types of membership and dues:
- Individual Membership: One vote* at club meetings, $20.00/year**.
- Family Membership: Up to two votes* at club meetings, $25.00/year**. _____________
* To vote, you must be a Member in Good Standing -see below
** Dues for applications and subscriptions received after July 1 are prorated to half the annual rate.
Application Process:
- Application: Download the application, get a sponsor, fill out the form, sign the WAIVER and write a check for your membership fees, payable to RAT. Mail the application and dues to the RAT Membership Committee, or, expedite your application and introduction by bringing your application to your first meeting. Your sponsor may be any current RAT member who knows you.
- Introduction: (part 1) You will be introduced to members of the club at the first meeting that you attend following receipt of your completed application and dues. (part 2) After your first meeting, your application information will be published in RAT Tales.
- Confirmation: Following publication of your information in RAT Tales, RAT Members will have 30 days to object to your admission by sending a letter to the RAT Board. If there are no objections within 30 days, you then automatically become a member of RAT.
Members In Good Standing (MIGS):

New members receive all of the benefits of membership in RAT, except the right to vote. To extend your benefits and to gain voting priviliges, you must become a Member In Good Standing (MIGS). To become a MIGS, you must have: |
- paid your dues for the current calendar year.
- attended at least one RAT general meeting in the previous 12 months (not calendar year).
- worked at at least 2 RAT-sponsored trials inthe previous 12 months (not calendar year).

You may begin working towards MIGS status immediately after your application for membership, and you must have MIGS status after your first 12 months to continue receiving full membership benefits. We strongly encourage you to talk to your sponsor about getting involved in club activities. Please contact the membership committee if you have any additional questions. |
